I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments. ________________________________________ - Psalm 119:45 (NLT) This week we have had verses all talking about freedom. Why is freedom talked about so much in the Bible? Freedom is so important for us. The freedom that Christ gave us. Indeed, without Christ, we are slaves. We are slaves to sin and we are slaves to ourselves. We live our lives by give to the will of our mind and our heart. The problem is, without Christ in our lives, our mind and heart is filled with sin. By our very nature we seek do things not out of love for others but rather out of self-enjoyment, no matter how temporary. But through Christ, love becomes the major factor driving our life. Because of Him we change. This change, is the breaking of bonds. We are no longer enthralled in temporary self-enjoyment, without thought of the long term. We are no longer caught up in addiction. We no longer have our life dictated to us but our sin or the results of those sins. Indeed, we are free to walk in Freedom, because Christ paved that road for us.
