I wish Christians would understand and start to demonstrate what redemption means in marriage. Gen 3.16b is NOT a curse on Eve, but rather a prediction of power struggles between husbands and wives (couples in a relationship) and of a tendency in early history toward male dominance. This is what it says, I believe. You will desire to rule over your husband while he will struggle to rule over you. When we understand that God created us not to have power between or over one another in our relationships, and that God has said this is a sad result of the fall, we can better interpret the problem passages in scripture. I see many take what they think a NT passage says and use it to interpret what Genesis says. This is backwards. I believe it is obvious that marriages of love and mutual submission are a beautiful example of how God intended things to be. But using the bible to interpret and implant into societies patterns of male leadership is doing exactly what God warned about in Genesis - exactly what is so sad about the fall. We can do better as Christians - we really can!
