I wish I could tell Denalis humans that it gets better. It doesnt. It can get easier, but it never gets better. I wish I could tell them the missing ebbs, that there comes a day when your life is every bit as whole as before you lose them. I wish I could tell them there arent still days, seven years on, when Id trade however many years of life I have left for ten minutes more with Zeke. I wish I could say all that without lying. This is the most honest thing Ive ever read about this particular flavor of grief.
