I wish I had had these words from John Fugelsang, in this exact way, to repeat to the verbally abusive man that I had the miserable experience of talking to yesterday. On his mission to reduce me to human rubble since I had the misfortune of having him on my calling list for the Iowa Democratic Party....he immediately went on the offense, making sure to inform me that he was a registered Republican (although he had not declared his affiliation on his vote registration, hence his phone number appears on both party calling lists). My attempts to disengage him were derailed by personal attacks on my mental capacity as well as my gender. Courtesy and civility have clearly been kicked to the curb along with even the last vestiges of good manners in our world today; not even 25 years of service at Iowa DHS prepared me for this mans bitter vendectives. Believe me, I know we are all getting tired of the election related calls (I get them too at home),....but try to remember that the person who is calling you is an unpaid volunteer and a fellow human being. There. I said it. Have a nice weekend, yall.
