I wish everyone defending Michael Brown would do a little studying on the psychology of robbery. Not only am I a retired police officer but I also have a Masters in Criminology. The crime of robbery is an act of violence. Robbers escalate their violence in successive robberies. Robbers thrive on that contact with their victim and on the control and fear. Unchecked robbers usually escalate to murder because they have to increase the violence to get the same thrill. Robbery and burglary are not the same thing. Burglars generally become aggressive only when caught in the act.
