I wish people would have the guts to stand by the things that happen in their names. I’m not just talking about the Justin Biebers and Rihannas and Chris Browns who are forever getting themselves into trouble and then going into damage control when their decide their actions might harm their popularity. Would Rihanna have donated that cheque to that high school for being an hour late for a performance if her tardiness hadn’t become too public? What good did her bad conscience money do to the fans she disappointed? What about all the other times she’s been late recently? What about all the other fans she showed so much disregard for? When are Rihanna and Justin Bieber’s fans going to say “enough”? If these artists think that their music is so good all can be forgiven, with a forced apology they’re kidding themselves. The music is almost the last thing they’re loved for. The music is an excuse for loving these kinds of artists. There’s also Robin Thicke’s reaction to the bad press the nudity in his ‘Blurred Lines’ video is starting to attract after helping him to No.1 around the world. His first concession was that his wife had approved of the video. That hasn’t hosed down the controversy. There are now women’s groups saying that the video is an incitement to rape. Now Robin Thicke has revealed that there’s a clothed version of the video which he preferred but was talked out of by his wife and the video director. Thicke is also telling us that the song is about the “blurred line” between being good and bad. Why is Robin Thicke defending his song and video so vigorously? Might I suggest that he’s thinking about the album that’s close to release, that was supposed to benefit from the single’s success not be hampered by the reaction to the video? People should be prepared to stand by their deeds.
