I wish to add my thoughts to this: Now the days are short, Im in the autumn of the years, and I think of my life as vintage wine from fine old kegs, from the brim to the dregs, it poured sweet and clear........it was a very good year. Now on to my next adventure. Rene Bendana 7 mins · To my dearest, most wonderful people in the world (aka “Theatre Folk): This is a joyous, yet somehow sad, day in the lives of Rene and Debbie Bendana. We have jointly decided to put Beari Productions, Ltd. to rest. We were at odds about staying open, closing down, or being defunct or some other adjective. They all seemed inappropriate. After much discussion, putting it to rest seemed the best decision. As we move closer to retiring the company, we do still have some commitments that we will honor, and will be open to doing small “cabaret” like shows. In June of 1997, Beari Productions opened with, “Magical Musical Moments: Scenes Youd Love To See Again,” and produced actively until March of 2014 with, “Children of Eden.” We put on an average of 3 shows a year. Musicals, Dramas, Comedies and our staple of MMM revues: some well known, some newly written by local playwrights. Some people thought we were too ambitious with some of our projects due to difficulty and/or commercial liability. We stepped across those boundaries and shattered some myths. Not to be maudlin, but I am writing this with watery eyes. I need to hear a chorus of, “Auld Lang Syne.” Omg, the friends and talents that cruised into our company: Mary Lynch, Candis Alek, Barrie Feuer, Cas Marino, Jimmy ONeill, Michael Allen Gray, Richard Weyhausen, Nick DeCesare, Amanda Doria, Bonnie Sassower, Tara Palen, Greg Johnson, Vincent Pepe, Scott Collin Woolnough, Ian and Malini McDonald, Amie Backner, Valerie Keane, David Arzberger, Nili Resnick, Danny Maldonado, Paul Morisi, Ron Caveglia, Raymond Bendana. Jeremy Lardieri, Robert Ariza, Sylvia Vinall Walsh, Joseph Gualtiere, Pete Castillo, Cathy and Michael Chimenti, Abe Ber, John and Pauline Baratta, Cameron Hughes, Alison Schwab, Lynn Loffert, JK and Kieran Larkin, Vikki and Niki Sorrentino, Monica Barczak, Monica Nicole, Erik Niellsen, Larry Hoffman, Alan Kingsley, Frank Auriemma, Dominique Cuoco, Shana Aborn, Miriam Denu, Alan David Perkins, Marlena Chang, Ted Frank, and the list goes on and on. Of course, my bride, Debbie Richardson Bendana. Thank you to the audiences who supported us for 17 years. If we missed you, we apologize, but “old age” hits the memory first. (And there will be a plethora of talent that we have yet to meet, direct or act with.) To those who are no longer with us: Jack OConnor, Ed Schuldner, Genny OHare, and Cas Marino, you left us a light that will never dim. The circumstances that led to our decision: changing demographics and losing key personnel. Debbie and I are no longer able or willing to climb ladders, hang lights, bang nails or paint flats, flyers, mailings, etc. The spirit is willing, but the body just laighs and says, “Yeah, right.” We salute and love all of you in the wonderful world of community theatre. This will now give us the opportunity to act, (Debbie really wants to get back on stage) and/or to direct for others. With much pride and joy, Rene Bendana – CoFounder and Owner Beari Productions, Ltd
