I with only two days left of campaign trail, I would like to thank everyone that helped and supported my quest to become your city councillor. Im looking forward to Saturday and confident that Port Alberni citizens will demand change. Please Vote TED MCGILL Your voice for change! I will not let you down! Hello my name is Ted McGill and Im asking for your vote to become your City Councillor. Im a husband, father, grandfather and active volunteer as a rescue specialist, coxswain and training officer with the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Unit here in Port Alberni. I have a diploma in Law Enforcement, a Certificate in Road Building and Heavy Construction Equipment Operator with Excavator Specialty and I hold a class 1 drivers license. Upon retiring from the Military Police as a senior NCO, my family and I relocated to Port Alberni. Over the past 5 years I have identified that poor financial management specifically the city budget is one of the biggest concerns of the community. We have had a steady increase in taxes as a result. This must stop! I will work hard in promoting new revenue ideas, making reductions and voting no when we can’t afford a proposal. Being a young retiree, Im willing and able to dedicate the required time, to ensure that every issue is researched and debated to the best of my ability. Utilizing the analytical skills obtained from various Police institutions, I believe I have the tools to understand the pros and cons prior to making a decision. I will promote and support initiatives that creates employment and improves the quality of life for all members of our community. Finding the balance is the key to successful change. I will strive to make Port Alberni the City of choice on Vancouver Island. Actions are stronger than words vote Ted McGill with confidence, I will not let you down! Please get out and vote!
