I woke this morning with a feeling of dread. I knew exactly how today was going to go and I put on my battle face to face it. I had to work all day today which usually results in nothing else getting done or me nag nag nagging from the bench to get anything - even simple, everyday tasks - done. I got up and began my usual broken record barking messages of drink something, eat breakfast, go to the toilet, get dressed, brush your hair, tidy your room, make your bed....etc etc etc....Youd think after some time that these things, even just SOME of these things would become habit but no, I still have to bark it out every single morning or it just doesnt get done. I knew I would have to fight the tide all day today. The weather is grim, all grey and windy with a few spots of rain. The boat is a big mess after having so much play time and the long bumpy sail yesterday and so enthusiasm would probably be very very very low to make a start on anything. I have to say I underestimated the kids, bless them. Yes they had got up at the crack of dawn and watched movies and gone back to bed after half-eating junk and leaving a mess in the kitchen but as soon as I removed their tablets and gave them a list to complete before they were going to be charged and handed back to them, they seemed pretty motivated. The saloon was cleaned, the floors, the bathroom, the rugs and blankets were shaken and aired, the washing was put in to soak and as soon as all that was done, their school work was attacked with positivity...Thing One in particular doing exceptionally well with her English work. To cap off this fantastically co-operative morning, after lunch they both went for a nap completely and utterly without complaint. I have to say my jaw is on the floor. If only every day could run so smoothly. The new starter motor is winging its way to us by courier so thankfully it looks like we may only be stuck here for around 4 days...weather permitting. Bugger water conservation tonight. We so desperately need showers. Last night I took my hair band out and my hair refused to fall, just stayed stuck in the ponytail position. All the swimming in the sea has left my hair very salty and with precious little fresh water to have the luxury of washing it out. Back to work for me.
