I woke up early this morning, before the sun decided to peek from behind the gray clouds, and wrote by hand in a notebook and had a cup of coffee. I went downtown with James. He went to the studio and I went to the wellness teams office to pick up the cervical pillow theyd ordered for me to help my ailing neck and back. (Hello, middle age!) I brought a book to read on the train, hoping it would help me find the words I need to write today. I stopped at the grocery store when I got back up to the neighborhood and bought cucumbers and tomatoes for sandwiches. I put away the groceries and sat down at the computer. Dry. No words. Maybe I should make a sandwich? But I picked up the pen and scratched at the page and suddenly there they were, like theyd been hiding. Or sleeping. Showing up is what helps. Sometimes.
