I woke up this morning with a very specific thought in mind: patience in affliction, healing, and restoration. I find its almost unnoticeable how easy it can be to slip into our cultures ideology of instant gratification. Some things are more enjoyable when received speedily. Internet, food, etc. But what about the things that arent possible to acquire with such quick convenience? Addictions, destructive behaviors, unhealthy mentalities, unresolved triggers, etc. I find myself sometimes battling the temptation to just hang up the towel in areas that I dont feel Im seeing progress in. As I talk with others daily who are constantly trying better themselves, I find that this tendency is not a rare one. Its like we come to a place of recognition of the areas in our lives that need healing and restoration and we even set in our minds where it is we would like to be in the end, but its the journey we struggle with. Its the tedious repetition of applying new thoughts and new behaviors that often challenges us to stay on course. Today, The Lord reminded me of a simple but profound truth: Our habits, hang ups, and hurts took time to be imbedded into the depths of who we are. Therefore, it will also take time to untangle them from being a natural part of our internal self. Be encouraged through the mundane, be motivated in the monotony, and remember that no progress is void progress. Galatians 6:9 /// And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
