I wonder how the public discourse will change when businesses, if given opportunity, are allowed to remove certain procedures or treatments based on ambiguously defined religious beliefs. When a Jehovah Witness run business wont need to cover blood transfusions for a Dad in need after a car wreck. Or when a Orthodox Jewish run company refuses to cover radiotherapy because the common practice is to apply tattoos for reference marks. Scientology run businesses are under no obligation to cover psychiatric meds for severe postpartum depression. Legally there is no distinction. And you must be kidding yourself if you think businesses wont invoke Religious Beliefs in an effort to decrease the cost of group health plans. My point being is that people have health insurance for those things for which we cant plan. For a corporation to be able to decide for its employees what coverage they wont get, based on something as ambiguous and open-to-interpretation as religious beliefs is to open ourselves up to a much higher incidence of untreated diseases, maladies, and medical bankruptcy.
