I wonder if, 8 years ago, Volition had any idea of where they were going to go with this franchise. Every sequel they up the ante. The first game was straight up GTA clone, you win by conquering the criminal underworld. Second game, you take out the criminal underworld, and then conquer the military-industrial complex. Third game, you take out the criminal underworld again, and then fight the army to establish a city state. Fourth game, you start out as president of the united states and then conquer an alien empire. And now the fourth and a half installment, you conquer Hell. One has to wonder what is left for them to do in the fifth game that theyve already indicated theyre making.
