I wonder what God wants from us today. He wants us to love others. He wants us to worship Him. He wants us to pray to Him. Why pray? We have heard the great prayers of our day. People, men and women, who sound like Larry the Cable Guy and then they break into the Kings English from the day of William Shakespeare. Thee and Thy and Thine come flying out, so that God will understand what they are saying. Or many words will come spilling out as Gods name is used over and over so as to avoid anyone thinking that you are talking out loud to someone else. Sometimes many details are given to God because He may not know exactly what is needed. Prayer is talking to God. He is Your Father. He is wanting to hear what is on your heart. Because the real reason that we pray is so He can reveal to us what is inside of us. Its for our benefit. Can you pray to praise Him and thank Him? If not, why not? What is in your heart that stops that? Can you ask Him for help in your life? Or do you not have that kind of relationship with Him? Do you avoid Him until its too late for anything else? What are you doing that stops you from coming to the throne? Each of us, when Jesus is our Lord and Savior, can approach God on our own. We can petition God together. We can cry out as a church, a community or even a country. But He longs to hear your voice today. Dont believe He cares? Pray for a month. Tell Him you dont believe in Him. Be honest. And ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Write it down. And then look back. The biggest reason that I have found that people do not pray to God is the same reason that they do not want Him in their lives. They are afraid they will have to give something up. They are holding onto a sin they like and wont let go. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 ESV) God, as we come to You today, we ask You to reveal that which is stopping or hindering our spiritual growth. I ask that You would reveal to us the love that You have for each beating heart. I ask that today, we would realize that we are absolutely nothing with out You. I pray for the lost to be found. In every sense of the word. In Jesus Name.
