I work in Local Government, I used to work in Central Government. Rarely do I get a pay rise, and in recent times when I have had one it has been capped at 1%. Im going to work today. In these extremely austere times, and with so many unfortunate job losses I am immensely lucky to have a job. My terms and conditions changed recently, and I accept them. Should I ever disagree with them, I will change my career. Im not saying that anyone who strikes today shouldnt, its their perogative being a Union member. Though I dont believe Unions have any power any more, and Pensions will undoubtedly change many more times before I ever retire. Im lucky. There is much much more to life than salaries or pensions. There is ALWAYS somebody worse off than you. Strikers, enjoy your day off, though I fear it is a waste of time.
