I worked at BPES for eleven years and in that time we only had one lock down. The teachers and staff have a phrase that if heard coming over the intercom they are supposed to shut their doors and lock them until further notice. It was very low key and students were not even aware of anything going on. I do think the district should put out a simple explanation to concerned parents, no names have to be shared but a simple statement saying an unknown person was in the building without checking in at the office so as a precaution until we could verify who and why this person was there we instituted the lock down plan or whatever the reason for it might have been. You cant keep something like that a secret so why not try and inform parents as much as you can to ease their fears. Some kind of information is better than none at all.
