I worked at the mall for the better part of 4 years. We took the trash out every single morning and it was just disgusting. We shared a dumpster with the food court and it was just rancid. It ruined my day from the start. One day I was on my way to slop through the mess to take out the garbage and this really nice guy who had just moved here from another country said in a thick accent: Good Morning! How are you!? and I replied in the most sarcastic way possible Just living the American Dream!. He shot back without hesitation and full of pride ME TOO!!!!!! and meant every word of it. I felt like THE BIGGEST jerk wad on earth. I had a conversation last night (see previous post) about all these things I want to do, and what it will take for me to be happy and how much more money I need to make etc. Its easy to forget that 1 year ago today I was slopping through rancid trash every morning, employing some of the worst human beings I have ever known, driving a car that was falling apart, in a relationship that was more miserable that it was ever right, my kiddo refused to go to bed at night and has just had a REALLY rough year at school, I was working nights and weekends, I was terribly depressed and spend most days curled up in bed staring at the wall. Joy reminded me last night that I AM THE 1% - and she wasnt talking about Wallstreet - she was talking about the whole world. There are people that dont have water to drink or beds to sleep in and Im straight up complaining 24/7 about how I need to make more jack to support my shopping habits. I am happy. My life is wonderful. End of story.
