I worked for over a year within the VA’s Compensation and - TopicsExpress

I worked for over a year within the VA’s Compensation and Pension appeals system, and I was actually reduced to sadness when I realized how screwed up the C&P system is. Though my case is finally headed toward equitable resolution, it’s been a process I have been stressing through for over a year. It just shouldn’t be this way. My tale: Part 1 youtu.be/jVaJL2_iXRE Part 2 youtu.be/9OZfdM-5lkg (When I tried it out, the hyperlink didn’t work, but copy and paste did) I’ll fully admit, my video production skills suck and the videos are way too long and tedious. Also, I was going to add subtitles because it is very difficult to understand me. However, this is who I have been for almost twenty years, so I figured I would “share” the experience, however briefly. Additionally, the people who really need to listen to this wouldn’t listen when I tried to make this easy, so I’ll let them experience a small taste of callous decision-making. Additionally, Ive tried to help be part of the solution rather than just complain about it. Over the years, Ive applied for more than twenty jobs with the VA. Despite the fact the VA is committed to hiring veterans, and Ive got the educational chops, more work experience than you could shake a stick at, have had a virtually unparalleled journey through the VA healthcare system, and a true desire to make a positive difference, I havent got a job offer yet. This includes having applied for multiple GS-9 jobs, so its not a case of creating unrealistic expectations for myself. As the old joke goes, if I had a nickel for everyone in the VA who told me how wonderfully qualified I was, then...well you know the rest. If anyone from the VA Human Resources side of the house would like to have a discussion about how utterly illusory Veterans Preference is with respect to non-competitive positions, you know where to find me. Finally, I apologize if you receive this message through multiple venues, but this is my first foray into social media. I just figured too much was better than not enough. Thanks for your indulgence, and I’d appreciate if you would be so inclined as to share this.
