I worked in retail for 17 years and here is the reality...not everyone cares for nor celebrates Thanksgiving, so why deny those people the opportunity to make big time dollars at the expense of you trying to preserve what you deem as morally correct by refusing to shop. Most retailers offer their employees time and half or even double time on Thanksgiving to work and the schedules are made based on a voluntary basis. The shifts scattered to accommodate those with families. You refusing to shop just to uphold your own moral code may cost those people who can use the premium time work a lot of money. So if you choose not to shop on Thanksgiving because it is a holiday, thats totally fine, but refusing to shop just to make a point may be causing more harm than good.
