I would ask now that everyone say a prayer for Cinnamon the 25 year old Saddlebred that recently came to our rescue. Her owner relinquished her and her stablemate Ginger earlier this summer. They were so starved that they could not make the two hour trip to our rescue, so they stayed at BC Rescue until they were more stable. BC did a wonderful job getting Cinnamon back to health, and we picked her up a couple of weeks ago. However this last week, she has become depressed. She wants nothing to do with the rest of the herd, if they come near she kicks at them, and bites. But worse yet, she is not eating. She has stopped eating her senior feed. She only picks at the grass and weeds. We have tried different types of senior feed, we have tried alfalfa pellets and cubes. We have tried alfalfa hay, prairie hay, and brome hay. She just stands in a corner watching everything. Brenda Grimmett from BC rescue and I think maybe her stomach is upset because we switched her from Thrive to Senior Feed. I have no way of getting Thrive, the closest dealer is an hour away. And of course cost wise it is much more expensive. We have tried to entice her by putting sugar and honey in her feed, which she licked up and spit out the food. She did eat some prairie hay last night, but not as much as she should. She is drinking. When she first came she ate and acted just fine, and she was great a Brendas as well. I am very worried about her, and feel terrible that something is wrong and that she is not happy with us. I have made an appointment at the vets for her on Friday, that is the soonest we could get in. Please pray for her and send happy thoughts her way. Thank you. :(
