I would be remiss if I didnt mention how great Dr. Patrick our vet was with our ordeal with Chloe. She developed a cancer that he described as fairly new and aggressive, and he was seeing more and more of it in his practice lately. He was honest with us, and let us know that very little could be done that would be truly effective. Surgery would prolong her life by a couple of months, but at her age would cause her more stress than do her good. Even though she was fairly sick when he examined her, he didnt want us to put her down at that point. She wants to be with you, he said. Take her home and enjoy what time you have left with her. When shes ready to go, shell let you know. It might be tomorrow. It might be in a month, but its not now. She lasted six weeks, most of those in relatively good spirits thanks to the steroids he gave us to help manage the tumor, but this morning she did exactly as he said she would do. She let us know it was time to go. Okay, this is my last post about Chloes passing. I just wanted to give Dr. Patrick at the Patrick Veterinary Clinic his props. Hes the best vet in Charleston.
