I would just like to thank Powell River Mayor Dave Formosa for - TopicsExpress

I would just like to thank Powell River Mayor Dave Formosa for participating in the Coffee with the Mayor question and answer sessions every 2nd Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM on 95.7 Sun FM Radio station. I asked a question about the possibility of a highway project to create road access from Powell River to Squamish by upgrading 35 kilometers of road and a 3 km tunnel. This would help provide economic stimulus in the mid province region. There are pros and cons with most developments as the Mayor mentioned. One question I did not ask is - how is our government and business sectors preparing this province to create the substantial economic status to provide all services required for the baby boomer segment of our Canadian population upon their retirement. According to statistics - The Canadians destined to become 65 years of age and older by the year 2030 will be close to 23% of the total population. That will be between 9 -10 million seniors! What is being done now, and who is going to pay for all of the required infrastructure, pensions, and medical support when it is already becoming a strain to the system? There is a disaster looming and our country better prepare for it. If there is not adequate development planned to provide the next generations financial stability and work, the wheels are going to fall off completely! How many of these seniors are going to reitre in British Columbia? - It is a certainty the seniors population will multiply in B.C. The boomers retirement story is just beginning.
