I would like someone to tell me how it has become socially acceptable to depict the abusive situations towards women I see in movies and tv, how many movies do people see everyday that depict rape and domestic abuse towards the beloved woman in our lives and if you call it drama I call it a disgusting filthy immorality that can only serve to reinforce the misguided idea that its somehow normal and if anyone is wondering to what Im referring to its called desensitization ~ Definition ~ desensitization is defined as the diminished emotional responsiveness to a negative stimulus after repeated exposure to it. It also occurs when an emotional response is repeatedly evoked in situations in which the action tendency that is associated with the emotion proves irrelevant or unnecessary. Desensitization is a process primarily used to assist individuals unlearning phobias and anxieties and was developed by psychologist Mary Cover Jones she developed a method using a list of anxiety evoking stimuli in order of intensity, which allows individuals to undergo adaption. ~ its also something that Adolf Hitler utilized to brainwash those that served his fanatical delusions, he repeatedly exposed certain soldiers to so much violence that their emotional response to it became so diminished that their their violent crimes became second nature to them and as far as Im concerned depicting the abuse of woman in all of the ways we are in books, movies and tv is only serving to hurt and help victimize those which give us our very lives ~ ALL WOMEN ~ and I am so sickened by it I personally will stand for it no longer and I hope all of the good decent and honorable men in this world are with me to take a stand for the cherished and treasured woman in all of our lives ~ Tom Lynch Jr.
