I would like to ask for prayer for my brother-in-law, Eddie Burnett. He had disc surgery today. He has been a great husband and friend to my sister and a wonderful father/grandfather to my niece and nephew and their families. His gentle, easy-going nature has probably helped him through his physical injuries and recoveries for the past 14 years. In 2000 he was on his way to work early one morning and a car going through a red light hit him. Though he did not feel as if his injuries were too severe and was able to walk around, one of the attending ambulance personnel decided to put a collar on him. When he arrived at the hospital, the emergency room doctor sensed something might be wrong with his neck and ordered an x-ray. As it turned out, his neck was broken and he had to wear a halo for many months. Then, in 2012, while taking out the trash one Sunday evening, he slipped and fell on ice. He could not walk and had to crawl into the house. After being transported to a local hospital and being examined, he was given crutches and sent him home. As my sister went to get the car, he fell again while in the hospital, but managed to get into the car and go home. Within a day or two, he wound up going to another local hospital because he was unable to walk even with the assistance of crutches. There was an orthopedic intern who examined him and knew immediately what was wrong. It seems that the tendons that attach muscles to his knee were severed from the fall/falls. After surgery on both knees and months of rehab and recuperation, he was home and back to work. Through all of this, he has remained a positive, gentle, loving person. Now, without any injury he can remember, Eddie has multiple medical issues in his back. The one which needed immediate attention was the disc. I know I have a lot of praying buddies on FB who will lift Eddie up in prayer for healing. As he recovers, he will also need determination to regain strength and confidence in use of his legs and back. I also would ask for prayer for my sister who herself has some medical issues and will be his caretaker during his recovery. God has been with Eddie through all of his injuries and I give thanks to Him for that. I know He will be here again. Thank you, prayer buddies for your support.
