I would like to challenge my friends and family to a Facebook New Years Resolution: Avoid absolutes and click bate posts. Annoyed with the click-bate titles supplied by sites like Buzzfeed, I have blocked most of them from posting onto my wall. Unfortunately, as humans, we adapt; and, some of my friends have started making the same silly statements. A friend will post, Oh. My. God. as the description of their video link. A friend will use the word literally incorrectly... again. Each time I die a little more inside. I ask all of my friends to make the effort to communicate properly. If something is not actually the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen, then don’t say it is. If you did not “literally die[d]” watching a clip, then don’t say you did. It will save me hundreds in undelivered funeral flowers, and clear my sanity from debating on how your zombie self made the post. If we all made a better effort at saying what we meant, then it would keep me from having to also adapt, following in the shoes of my dear Dr. Cox.
