I would like to commend Minister Diab on her decision to continue funding the Dog Program at CNSCF, and for seeing the value it contributes in the lives of the offender participants. When we invest time, effort, and resources in people we will most times see benefits and progress. One has to remember, there are a segment of those incarcerated who have had little positive love and affection as well as interaction shown to them in their lives. To turn that around, by using animals who are at a disadvantage is a win-win. Bravo to the Justice Minister and her government, as the provincial conservative obviously shares the view of its federal counterpart, and this is disturbing to say the least. One has to wonder that if the Federal Conservatives were to announce the launch of such a program at the federal prison in Mr. Baillies riding, if he would be singing a different tune. I bet he would. It is about time that we invest in programming in our provincial facilities instead of using them as a warehouse. For there to be change, we need to facilitate it.
