I would like to congratulate the TBYR board, especially Lacey Jayne Wickline, for such a successful event. With that being said, as a lifelong Republican, I was ashamed to find out that memos had been sent out either condemning our event, warning us not to go, or annoying others not to attend the presentation - what disgusts me most is that many followed these orders (see: Nuremberg trials) and our turnout was less than expected. Memos, emails or phone calls - seriously? The party that supposedly embraces liberty and freedom of ones own opinion condemned their own for listening to other points of views? For those that did this, I hope you feel better, as if in some way you had a moment of meager power and thought you could control us. On another note, I heard of some people having borderline panic attacks (figuratively) since we were being harassed by party leadership and that they questioned if the event should go on. For those that thought that this was a serious situation, or got scared that somehow we would be punished - I suggest you find a hobby (or profession) other than politics; this kind of nonsense (and remember, we are just a club) is the tip of the iceberg - get used to it and roll with the punches!
