I would like to explain why I support Eric Morrow for Ogle County States Attorney. I have practiced law in my home of Ogle County since shortly after law school - and in just about every capacity you could imagine. I have been an Assistant States Attorney; in private practice with a firm of attorneys; a City Attorney for several municipalities; a Public Defender; and an attorney in solo practice. I have had the pleasure of representing people in Ogle County in numerous capacities for over 35 years. During that time, I have seen new and remodeled court houses, new judges, new sheriffs, new county officials and new attorneys come and go - and some even go and come back. I think I have a good long term perspective on the legal justice system and the people it affects in Ogle County. More importantly, I have practiced law in the same court rooms with both candidates. Eric Morrow is the only candidate who has much of that same background. He grew up in rural Illinois like Ogle County. His entire legal career has been in Ogle County. He didnt just move here when it was politically convenient. He is a life long Republican. He and Trish and their family have made this their home and have worked hard to become a part of the community and to make Ogle County a better place to live for all of us. Our next States Attorney needs to have that community connection to this county and to this life style. Eric does. Just as important is Erics open and forthright position in protecting the Second Amendment right of Ogle County citizens. He and his family have a long history of exercising those rights, properly and safely. He knows what it means to protect your family and your property using the rights given to Ogle County citizens by the United States Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Illinois. A States Attorneys job - and the oath of office - requires him to do justice. Usually that means prosecuting and convicting criminals. But sometimes it requires justice of a different kind. Eric has been a part of the New Horizons Drug Court from its beginning. He has worked hard to give the people who need it - and have earned it - the right to a second chance. It is a difficult choice to determine who fits into that second chance category. Eric has shown the ability to make that good judgment. And in doing so, he has saved peoples lives, the lives of their families, protected current and future victims and saved the County and State money through rehabilitation. Finally, and maybe foremost, I have watched Eric since he began practicing law here. He is a good and zealous advocate for his clients and their rights. He will continue to be a good and zealous advocate for the citizens of Ogle County. My voice just joins the chorus, with Judge Pemberton and Judge Mallon, of support for Eric which shows the respect and admiration he has achieved in his legal career. Lastly, I would ask all my FB friends to share this endorsement. Some of you dont live here and cant vote here. But you all have family and friends that do.
