I would like to know if this is yet another scare tactic being used to distract or make fools of people by getting them outraged over a false story, or if its true that books are being banned. I dont believe in banning books, period, even that collection of poisonous instructions by the fraudulent prophet mohammed has educational value for those with the intelligence to realize it is in no way inspired by anything holy or spiritual. When I was a rebellious teenager, I was suspended by a teacher for reading the Satanic bible. Why would I want to read it? Simple, I was curious. I spent the first day of my suspension reading the book and writing my book report, and the remainder of the three-day suspension doing various crappy chores my father assigned me for failing to find a way to respectfully convince my teacher of my reasons for reading a controversial book. He understood that I hadnt exactly been disrespectful, and that there was no way that I could have gotten her to be rational about the book-that was the lesson he wanted me to learn. People are not always rational about things they fear, nor are they interested in educating themselves, only others. It is far easier to spread fear than truth. No, I shouldnt have been suspended, but life isnt fair. The only way to combat unfairness in such situations is stay your course, remain rational and calm instead of becoming aggressive, and continue to state your case clearly and concisely providing as much factual evidence as possible to support your position. Even so, you will lose a great portion of the time, but above all be consistent. Do not change your beliefs to please others, whether an individual or a mob. Ive been thinking of my father a great deal, this being the first Thanksgiving of my life that I didnt at least speak to him on the phone if we werent together. It was one of many valuable lessons he taught me and as was often the case, mere words would not have had the same effect, nor did the full impact of the lesson come immediately. It has surfaced many times throughout my life. On the fourth day I returned to school, and waited until class recessed for lunch to hand my book report to the teacher. To her credit, she did not immediately rip it to shreds as Im sure she wanted to. She returned it to me before the end of last period, timing it to avoid conversation. We never spoke of it again, and I did not get an apology, but at the top of the report was my grade. A+
