I would like to nominate my daughter Karissa Scano. She volunteered awhile back at the Boston Rescue Mission, serving a meal 5 days a week to the homeless. She would go in around noon to prepare the food with a few other volunteers, serve it from 3-4 & then stay to clean up. The reason I am nominating her is not so much because of the above actions but because the volunteer supervisor said she was the ONLY Volunteer (especially in her age group-21 at the time) that would sit down at the table with the HOMELESS guys (as opposed to with the OTHER volunteers) EVERYDAY & eat with them. Growing up with me, she was exposed to ALL KINDS of people. Im SO GRATEFUL to have a child that views EVERYONE Equally, that never looks down on others & treats EVERYONE with Love, kindness & compassion! She has also walked thru Downtown Crossing with me on FREEZING COLD days & passed out Winter Hats & Gloves. Theres nothing better than seeing our Next Generation doing their own Random Acts of Kindness!!
