I would like to right now, crush any beliefs that the Pyramids of Giza must have been built by something other than human hands and human power. *************************************************** First, some very basic facts about the Pyramids we will need to look at, that I think wiki can be trusted to have covered accurately: #1 The Great Pyramid is constructed of approximately 2.3 million limestone blocks. #2 The very largest stones used are estimated to weight about 80 tons and there are only a few of them. They are used as arches above the doorway to the Kings Chamber and a few other places. #3 The majority of the largest blocks used are only up to 25 tons, most of the blocks overall, are much much less. # 4 Current models estimate the largest pyramid was built over a 10-20 year period. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pyramid_of_Giza *************************************************** Next, we need some historical contrast for the work of moving and placing 25-80 ton stones, this sounds nearly impossible without modern technology, however: (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronze_Horseman#Thunder_Stone) #1 The Thunderstone commonly called The largest stone ever moved by mankind. It originally weighed about 1500 tons, and was carved down to 1250 tons during transportation to its current site. #2 The Thunderstone is (1500 tons / 80 tons) 18.75 times larger and heavier than the very largest stones (80) used to build the pyramids, and (1500 / 25) 60 times larger and heavier than the more common (25 tons) large stones. #3 The Thunderstone was moved using only rope, logs, and manpower over land. It was barged up the Neva river, just as the Egyptians barged their blocks over the Nile. No animals, no advanced tech, just pure ingenuity. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronze_Horseman#Thunder_Stone *************************************************** We can clearly see, the size and weight of the pyramid blocks isnt an issue for the pyramid builders; if anything their task of block moving was far easier per stone. They were moving individual blocks much much faster and easier than the Russians who moved the Thunderstone. Of course the Egyptians moved 2.3 million stones just for one pyramid, but this is now only a matter of granting enough time, the ability to move 25-80 ton stones on human power alone, is now easily within the realm of possibility. *************************************************** But now we need to consider time for placement: Lets use facts #1 and #4 about the pyramids from above, 2.3 Million stones over 20 years at most. Blocks per year: 2.3 Million / 20 = 150,000. Blocks per day: 150,000 / 365 = 410. Block per hour can be done two ways, 24 hour work, or on an average 12 hours of daylight over the course of a year. 410 / 24 = 17 or 410 / 12 = 34 (.16 rounded off) Now, consider: If you can move, work and barge over a river, a single stone weighting 80 tons....then you can move, work, and barge over an entire load of lesser stones at once. While many of the stones used to build the pyramids are impressive heavy stones, they did manage to place them just fine and the Egyptians very likely did use animal power to aid them. However, many more of these were smaller lighter stones that would have been much easier and quicker to work with. They would have been able to place these smaller stones rapidly. If they were bringing them over in loads of multiple stones, that means there was a local pile of them on site, which also means they could have been unloading them one after another using a mixture of human and animal power, creating a constant stream of smaller stones being pulled up and placed. So while they might have spent an entire day placing just a few 80 ton stones, they very likely also had days where they placed several hundred smaller stones, one after another like a massive assembly line. They wouldnt have been dragging up one stone at a time, but rather one after another, a long unbroken chain of stones stretching from the unloading point, to the point of placement; which there may also have been more than one of. There was certainly several working zones at a time for much of the construction, especially during the construction of the base where there would have been ample room to place stones by multiple work crews. So when we look at the total average stones per day, it seems at first unreasonable, but when you consider during the first 5-10 years (the first half of construction) they would have about doubled the number of stones placed in second ten years as the pyramid grew narrower, it works out nicely. It becomes a completely reasonable timeframe, the average number of blocks required to be placed per day/hour is misleading due to the pyramids shape. Most of the sheer number of blocks, were placed when the base was large, many crews worked it, and thousands of blocks were placed per day, not mere hundreds. The work greatly slowed as construction progressed, thus the illusion of a high total block average per day (410 from the math above.) *************************************************** I have now brought the size and weight of the Great Pyramids stones into the realm of human power alone to move and realistically within the time frame required with the help of animal power. Im not the first to do such a thing by any means, Im just some guy looking at the data for himself. But, my conclusion after looking the data over and doing some math, is that the Great Pyramids were easily within human power to build. No aliens, no magic, no advanced technology required -at all. ***************************************************
