I would like to say I really enjoy playing and watching sports. Also, exercise is key to a healthy lifestyle. However, my soap box for the day is sports salaries are simple ridiculous! I watch some player (exceptionally talented) get a contract in baseball for 160 million; another 233 million (Football, Basketball and other pro sports not far behind). I know the arguments that their career is short, possible injuries and owners profits. Regardless, if you take the an average salary of a police officer, fire fighter, or military active duty member (around 50,000.00 per year) would mean the single baseball player efforts that earns 160,000,000.00 is the same value as “3200” Police, FF or soldiers/sailors for entire year that protects your safety by fighting crime, charging fires and wartime efforts. Really!!! How much is enough for a playing a game and how much are we willing to pay so this behavior can continue to escalate?
