I would like to share the speech I made at Meet the candidates evening with you. Being an elected member of the City of Victor Harbor is a very important position. Not only do you have the lives of approximately 14000 people to protect, you also have a responsibility to the whole region & state. During the next four years an elected member will make approximately 3000 decisions, some small, some large. I believe I have always approached these decisions with an open mind & with the best interest of the people of Victor Harbor. I work by the following six point plan. * I am very passionate about the people of Victor Harbor, including all ages. * I am very proud to live in Victor Harbor & to have represented the residents of the area for 12 years in council. * I am a practical person. I look at issues with an open mind & with the aim of achieving the best outcome for everyone. * I am a very positive person. I believe if we all work together we will continue to achieve outstanding results for all residents. * I am a progressive person. I always look to the future as I did in my business life & will continue to apply my expertise in this area for the good of all. * I am a very approachable person. I am happy for you to contact me personally as I will listen to your concerns, ideas, comments & opinions. My vision is: * Objectively support the sustainable economic development and growth of local businesses and industry sectors. * Ensure the provision of appropriate health facilities that support the needs of the broad community. * Support the development of opportunities and strategies that assist our youth in employment, further education and community participation. * Participate in the improvement to the education facilities and opportunities being made available within Victor Harbor. * Address the needs of the young families in our city. * Ensure the implementation of the City of Victor Harbor development master plan. * Continue to support the development and marketing of local tourism. * Assist in building awareness of our primary industries and local produce. * Support strategies and initiatives for the utilisation of readily available natural resources. I believe we can influence the future by working together the for benefit of all people. I ask for your support in this election & I look forward to being of service to you.
