I would like to take a minute to thank everyone who came up to support the First Canadiana Antiques Group Pick, those who said they would come showed and I appreciate your commitment to the fun filled day. I think by a head count we ended up with roughly 60 participants who all had a hand in the hat. The first round of the Pick flowed pretty smoothly and everyone was excited to be a part of it, the second round was just as fun after some prices where reduced and finally dealer trade ended the event. I would have to say it was a great event and I was extremely happy with the turn out until the moment when we realized some old couts walked off with two Afgan rugs Marty had brought valued at $900! A sincere apology goes out to Martin Osler again and I really feel terrible for that to happen and something we really need to consider for the next time although not something you would expect from a bunch of people who know each other although these two were a few of the unknowns in attendance. We are hoping whoever was there taking photos could post them here so we could have a chance of identifying the culprits. Thanks to Clay Benson for putting up the space and venue, the setting and back drop could not have been better and Clay is excited to do it again possibly in the spring. Thanks to Ben Lennox for stepping up to MC the event and even confidently auctioning off numbers 1,2,3 in the first round. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and we feel there is something to be said about this event to hopefully lead to more on a bi-yearly or quarterly basis, the fact that it did not cost anything to the sellers, no booth rental, no commissions, no added expenses other than the gas to get there makes it really appealing to anyone looking to sell in todays market.
