I would like to take a moment and say how honored I am to have - TopicsExpress

I would like to take a moment and say how honored I am to have been allowed to join this group. I joined the Seabees at 17 wanting to go to Nam and follow in my brother in law Pauls footsteps. I have mentioned before how the man is my personal hero. He was in agent orange and got diabetes and is a double amputee now. He was recently diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. However, that was not to be and I was never sent over. I have learned so much on this site from the men and women who did serve in country. Things I never knew before or that I could not have even fathomed. I have witnessed your anguish, pain, sorrow, confusion, anger, and yes even joy. I have wept as you spoke of your trials, tribulations, and many health issues. I have also laughed at your stories of the good times some of you experienced. Some of you have made life long friends from your military days as I have myself. Some of you have also lost friends in Nam as I have and will never forget how they touched your heart. In hindsight now that I am older there are times I am glad I did not go to Nam. Then again at other times I wish that I had to fight for my country. I am proud to have had served and to have done my part for my country. From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you men and women who were in country and served. I welcome all of you home and you have my utmost respect. I shall continue to keep all of you in my prayers and may God bless each and everyone one of you.
