I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank those who attended Brocks funeral yesterday both in person and in spirit. It was a hard day, it was a beautiful day. And even though the heavens opened up, the gravesite service was just as beautiful. When I came home with that rain-drenched American flag, and unfolded it to let it dry, I looked at the beauty of this quality-made, heavy cloth, hand-stitched, HUGE flag, I pondered many things. Brock was beautiful, he was quality, made of a heavy cloth, he was hand-stitched, and HUGE - larger than life to so many. Before the flag ceremony started, the soldier of the honor guard explained to me what the procedure would be before they handed me the folded flag. I was in a role that I did not want nor ask for, so I asked the soldier if I could chuck it over my shoulder when it was done. The soldier did not break face, and I apologized. Later, when I unfolded it, the realization poured over me of the extent of Brocks legacy. While the American flag means many different things to different people, personally, this flag does not have a military nor national meaning or effect on me. The flag, to me, embodies the legacy of Brock as stated above. It is now my most treasured possession. The forlorn nature of Taps being played at graveside reminded me again of Brocks fight song and his lifes song. I knew I needed to be sure that all of you knew a specific side of him. This song was played at the end of his funeral at the church. This is how he embraced God in life and how he embraced God as he approached his death. I would like all of you to follow this link, put on your headphones and blast it into your head as Brock did every time that needle went into him for his many treatments. Brock did not know if he would live two more years or twenty, but this song covered both. From the prelude explanation, before the song sung at the service: This was Brocks fight song thru his two year journey. With every treatment he endured, he would play this song on his headphones, to gird himself. There is a line in the song that says, He saved me in the nick of time, His perfect time as it was always his desire to be healed. God did heal him in the nick of time, as he needed to be free from a body that was failing. A life well lived is a life devoted to God, despite our limits. This is Brocks fight song, as well as his lifes song Anna
