I would like to take the opportunity to thank one and all who have extended their hand to Des Pistorius and been there for him in his time of need. Thank you Terry Donnelly and Caryl Von Berg for taking the time out to wait for me at the hospital on Friday. Everard and I got my Dad to our place with not too much of a problem. The difficult part came when we had to carry him up the stairs and into the house. One step at a time. It felt like an eternity for me. I can only imagine how it must have felt for him. When we eventually got upstairs into the house we sat and chatted. He told me about all the folks that had visited him and telephoned him. He spoke very fondly of all of you. My Dad is a very proud man, free spirited and extremely nomadic. A man of few words. Looking at him sitting on the couch on Friday I thought to myself he is still as stubborn as ever. He quite clearly did not want any help with anything although at this stage he is in no position to refuse the help that is offered to him. All he wanted to do was go home. I picked my Mom and Boswell up on Friday evening. They spent the night with us. On Saturday we collected the wheel chair that Allan V Heerden organized. This was such a great help. We put The Bearded Wonder into the chair and he was taken home. Chris Whitlock I have to say it was really great to see my Dad laugh after you told him that he would not have to bother to clip his toe nails on his foot again. That laughter reached his eyes. That was a beautiful thing for me. Christine Donnelly Marques, Ian Naude and Nadia Figueiredo thanks for the lovely messages. As for you Donovan Blom, all I have to say to you is that you too will get old. You will call out for help and there will be no one there to help you. Your Gramps asked you for your help but you did not or could not step up to the plate. I have to honestly say that is exactly the sort of reaction that I expected from you. Be careful who you threaten in future. We are old school and this kind of attitude does not go down well with us. Seems like you were running a little scared. Pathetic. As I mentioned to you the other day Donovan, if you want to stir the shit pot then you must be prepared to lick the spoon.
