I would like to thank all my friends and family for their support at this time, when my Mom starts her journey to Heaven. I knew the time would come when I would have to say good bye so I tried as much as possible to mentally prepare myself for that moment. I know youve all heard it before, but everyday with a much loved family member is a gift like no other. Every small act whether its doing some shopping, making a meal, organizing a closet or her favorite ...a nice cup of tea goes such a long way. I would leave Plainview and head back to my home and family in Centereach after spending some time with her and I would feel so elated on that quiet ride home that God gave me yet another day. Everything I am today I owe to her. She taught me how to improvise, how to make something using things from my yard or the beach. She laid the groundwork for my creativity. That gift I cherish and I use every chance I get to make others happy. She taught us a love for nature, flowers, birds, the ocean and music. Her sense of humor until the end .She made the best meatballs for an Englishman/Irishman. Not to mention the notorious potato salad. Thank you to my siblings and their families that went above and beyond during some stressful times . She wouldnt have made it to 94 without your support. I could go on and on and turn this into a mini series but my point is if you love with all your heart ,theres no guilt and no regrets. Just celebrate the time you did have. Remember with a small gesture, plant a flower, or have a nice cup of tea. Thats what Ill be doing.
