I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes from my visit to the Emergency Department at Foothills Hospital yesterday. Let me start by saying it is amazing the differance a day makes. Yesterday at about 9am I was working at my desk and noticed a little soreness on the left side of my chest near my heart, i did not pay much attention as it was not a bad pain at all. Then around 11 oclock I was with another Supervisor replacing a couple of crash carts and the pain was getting quite severe, and within 15 minutes it was about a 7 out of 10. I went up to Emergency and told them I had SEVERE chest pains and the looked at my vitals and got me into a monitored bed immediately. They started and IV and took blood then ordered a ECG. I was in such pain then that I could not lay still enough for them to get any results, and then they did a portable chest xray. After 2 very heavy doses of Fentanyl I was able to lay still enough for them to do another ECG. The results from the Xray and the ECG and Blood work showed my heart was very strong. They then said there are a couple other possibilities. I could have a blood clot or Paricaditis. Paricarditis is when there is too much fluid around the heart or when the sack that holds the fluid around the heat gets irritated or stiffins up somewhat it gives of severe pain like a heart attack. They loaded me up with more Fentanyl and I had a CT, and the results from that showed I had no blood clots, so they narrowed it down to the Paridarditis with the possibility of slight Pneumonia. They gave me prescriptions for anti inflamitory painkillers as well as a 90 day perscription for pills to help the Percarditis, as well as antibiotics if I need them and sent me home. I was only in Emergency for 5 hours and the care was excellent. Today my pain is at 1 or 2 only when I cough of take in a quick or deep breath. They said this could be a one time thing or reacuring even to chronic. Hopefully I never go through this again the pain was excruciating.. I will see you all at the Jam today. I am not going to be hosting but I might as well sit there and be with friends and listen to good music as sit home and do nothing
