I would like to wish my mother, Ernestine Holly- Bloome, ibea a HAPPY BIRTHDAY in heaven. My Mother was a wonderful women and person, She had such a love for her family and their strong history. This was one of the many traits that she passed to me. Like most southern Black Americans, she was a mixture of Native American, African, and Irish Blood. She would often tell her children about family members with pride. Her family was not rich with money, but they owned Land and were Educated in the early 1800s in South Carolina. Her family still live on and own this land to this day. We were called Geeches, but mommy taught is that it was nothing to be ashamed of. Her maternal Great-grandfather was from Johns Island, and we lived in the low land part of the state.( Barnwell County) I could write a book about this Women that only lived 51 years on this planet,( which I plan to). Her short life left such a large impression. Mommy I love and miss you so, I thank God for you every day. Continue to rest in peace Mommy!!
