I would like to wish my son, Alex a happy 18th birthday today. Since you were a little kid begging me to do The Rocks Rock Bottom WWE move on you, to watching Superman the Movie on repeat on VHS as a toddler and your first movies of all time were the original Star Wars trilogy (the rereleases in the theatre). The endless Spongebob marathons (Wee Woo, Wee Woo), from Caillou to Drake and Josh and your love of Tim Burton movies, compliments of Beetlejuice. Youve turned into one of the most respectful, talented and creative young young men out there. I have yet to hear you cuss without asking if its okay, lmao. Grampa Bob would be proud of you, as everyone is. Your sense of humor is completely nuts and I love it. You are you and you dont let people push you into being something youre not and Im thankful that youre true to who you are. You own up to your mistakes and make them work positively and to this day, I have never seen you really ask for anything, ever. I know its most likely some silent reverse psychology and if it is, well played, young man. Very clever. You possibly just played the long con in Leverage proportions. Ha! Weve had some rough times, some issues with your horrid school and you took it all in stride and never stopped smiling. You dont let the bad define you and you shake it off and keep pushing forward. Thats all I can ask as a parent. Try your absolute best even if the outcome isnt always the best, always be who you are and be respectful of everyone, even if you disagree with them. Done, done, and done. Add to that some wicked storytelling and a great eye for art and photography and a desire to get into FX? Done again and again. There were more awesome times and theres more awesome to come. Were a team and always will be. I got your back, kid. Lots of cool stuff on the horizon from the Jackson Boys. Anyhoo, the song of the day is the one of the first thrash songs Alex heard on his own (without my cds blaring in the stereo when talk radio got monotonous), compliments of Zombieland, one of many zombie films I let you watch as a kid that I had to answer for with the family. Shaun of the Dead, anyone? Hahahaha! Happy birthday, kid. You rock. Youre a good egg. Happy 18th, old man. Ha! Eggs...now I gotta go make a giant cookie and a pie. Oven on!
