I would post my opinion about the Hobby Lobby ruling, but I dont - TopicsExpress

I would post my opinion about the Hobby Lobby ruling, but I dont think that it would mean anything in a world full of noise and name-calling and assumptions. As are all of the hot-button issues of today, the opinions people have about this case are rooted in their fundamental beliefs- fundamental beliefs that are diametrically opposed to the fundamental beliefs of those on the other side. We might as well all be speaking a different language because I have seen no reason and no effective communication between the two opposing opinions. For a person who believes that the government has the ability to force an employer to pay for anything they deem worthy; who believes that the corporation is completely separated from the individual; for a person who believes that birth control is a good thing and a fundamental right, the idea that a company would refuse to give it is preposterous. For a person who believes that birth starts at conception and that a corporation is a direct extension of an individual, the idea that anyone should be forced to pay for a pill that has the ability to abort a pregnancy is evil. Both sides think the other sides case is absurd. No one will listen. With friends on either side of the argument, I am getting close to pulling my hair out. Can we just stop posting poorly written, poorly researched gotcha articles please? The place to start change if you want it is through the legal system, not through facebook. In America, if you want legislation changed or you want more legislation of the same kind, you elect, you vote, you rally- but posting 10,000 articles and screaming into the noise isnt going to change anything. It just makes you feel like youre standing up for justice while you go about life and nothing changes in the real world. Ive said it before and Ill say it again- we will not reach the other side by screaming at them. It appears we cant even have a conversation yet- so we must become friends and talk as friends would. Love convinces when ears are too hardened to hear logic. Love speaks when mouths are quiet. Speak the truth in the proper place and time and with love, or risk losing not only your argument, but your chance at having a relationship with those you disagree with.
