I write an article every week for our local newspaper Tameside Advertiser - it reaches around 90,000 homes across Tameside, and also our neighbours in Glossop. It isnt online and our community here reaches as far as Australia. So I am going to start sharing my column with you here...... I will post it for around 5pm the following Monday as the paper hits on the Wednesday / Thursday before..... It keeps you updated on our progress and is also an opportunity for our support to catch up if they missed the paper, or if like us, they dont get a free copy. So this one I typed up early (22nd) to hit the mats on New Years day..... here you go.. the first of our Monday Advertiser updates.... I submit my article a few days before it goes to print. However this weeks I am submitting before Christmas day, which seems a little strange. So by the time you read this, it will all be over. Christmas Eve, day, boxing and New year. We will have also celebrated three family birthdays. We will remember Isaac’s Great Grandma Betty on her birthday which is Christmas eve. I celebrate another year in my forties on the 29th and our darling Isaac will be 7 this New Years Eve, born just in 2007 at 2335 hours. A time of festivities and many celebrations. We will also have returned from our warm break to the sunnier climes of Abu Dhabi. Last Christmas I spent 2 hours in Reuben’s nursery crying and missing him. I didn’t want to repeat it this year and so we took the decision to “Take off” .As I sit and type, I wonder if it will make much difference to our great miss, probably not, as I know from experience that we take it wherever we go. There was something I posted on our facebook page recently, a quote that read “You know that place between sleep and awake? The place where you can still remember dreaming?, That’s where I will always love you, that’s where i’ll be waiting” Isn’t it truly beautiful. To think that our loved ones past can wait for us there, not far, close, but we cannot see or speak with them. To know that they are still near. I have lots of Thank you’s again this week. So much support for our project. All of it welcomed, and so very much needed as we start to spend our next largest amount of monies ever spent, on our rebuild of phase one. Thank you’s this week go to TK Components for their pledge of a fabulous kitchen in our phase one build. Also to Universal granite, who have also pledged to support too. More on that to come as we develop after our start date in January. Thank you to Donna, Pearl and team at Thomas Cook Hyde whom have raised over £700 this last 3 months, incredible !!! Thank you to our musical friends whom raised over £400 with their fabulous voices and carols . Thank you to our Patrons Julie and Ian for our movie day on Saturday and to our wonderful communities that support our cause. As we move into the New Year, if you work for a company that choose to support a charity, then please put us forward and let us know if you need any paperwork to support it. If you need to make room for your Christmas gifts, please remember that on our website under our “get involved” section, you can recycle your clothing and monies raised go towards our cause, or if you have any unwanted Christmas gifts, then please feel free to drop them by our offices and we can raise some money with them. We now have a land line number at our offices in Ashton, arranged by our fabulous supporter Derek from hosted phones. Our number is; 01457 680023 and is manned during office hours Monday to Friday. Imagine Beth’s surprise when she received a call the other week from Australia. A Gentleman that my husband had recently met on a conference from their Sales team in Australia has rang to advise he will be running the New York marathon next year for Reuben’s Retreat. Having spoken to Mike on his recent overseas conference, he was so amazed by our project (his words) that he wanted to run for us knowing exactly where his monies would be going. Early at home, the call was nearly midnight in Australia so he bid Beth a good night after speaking with her that morning. Get in touch if you’d like to run too. [email protected] Wonderful support from our family, friends, communities and our neighbours across the many waters of this wonderful world. I leave you with wishes of good health, good fortune and happiness for the coming year. Keep in touch and stay close, as our project reaches new heights in 2015.
