I wrote a letter to Speaker Boehner, signed by more than a dozen of my colleagues, urging House Republican leaders to allow amendments to a series of GOP tax proposals in order to prevent the bills from adding $1 trillion to the national debt. Adopting an unusually closed process, Republican leaders have refused to allow even one up-or-down vote on alternative proposals that would achieve the same goals without increasing the deficit.
