I wrote on March 3: In Memory of Harlan Howard: Harlan Perry Howard (September 8, 1927 – March 3, 2002) was a prolific American songwriter, principally in country music. In a career spanning six decades, Howard wrote a large number of popular and enduring songs, recorded by a variety of different artists. Howard was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1973 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1997. (Wiki) As a big fan of him and Billy Joe Shaver too I especially like the story Shaver once told: I was a big Harlan Howard fan, Id never had met him, so I just rode up and it was a low porch. I rode my motorcycle up there and hit the door. I revved it up and he come out there and said What in the hell is going on? He was a big old guy too. I didnt know he was that big. He said, Who in the hell are you? I said, Well Im Billy Joe Shaver and Im the greatest songwriter that ever lived. He said, Well, I thought I was. Park that thing and come on in and lets drink some whiskey. We drank and became great friends right on up to his death. A great song about christian hypocrisy: Harlan Howard - Sunday Morning Christian youtube/watch?v=OYnS2N-Geq8 Harlan Howard - Busted (performed by the original songwriter) youtube/watch?v=d0XUqcutr7w Harlan Howard - Mr In Between youtube/watch?v=KWBIRbT1oCs Harlan Howard & Nanci Griffith - Never Mind youtube/watch?list=RDOYnS2N-Geq8&v=8XmctFF8BWc
