I wrote some of this in another thread but wanted to share it: Stereosonic founder wants to deny entry to customers based on their appearance, that appearance being time spent - in the gym. It’s scary (maybe even scarier than some fist fights) witnessing Australian discrimination such as this from a businessman and not our conservative right wing government. You can go to Burning Man, Tommorowland, Outlook Festival for about $100 more than Stereosonic - all with mind blowing visuals, installations and cutting edge music. As apposed to Stereo - a stage in a park with a few led screens, lights, lasers and Nova FM selection. If Stereo invested 10% of the money they spend on DJ’s, into 10% of the creativity and innovation the above festivals spend on installations and decor etc, coupled with 10% of the above festivals musical diversity: Stereo may create something people (who don’t listen to Nova, Channel V and Triple J) would be more than 10% interested in attending. Or another alternative (if the conservatives win and mediocrity reigns) could be DJ Putitin (Putin) plays the warm up set, DJ KJ (Kim Jong-Un) plays headline but Putitin refuses to leave the decks, it gets agro…they drop some acid and hug it out and start playing some future trapezoid beats. But, no one gets it cause they screened at the door and didn’t let any of the liberal, freethinkers in...ROCKON!!! There are innovative Australian promoters, Krachmacher for example put on an outstanding series of parties, offering punters something more than ‘a big name DJ’. It’s innovation that excites people minds, without it we are left with mediocrity.
