I wrote this about a year ago while reflecting on what Memorial Day means to me. One of the greatest treasures that came from growing up in Caney, Kansas, was seeing Memorial Day done exceptionally well. Sadly, there are many in America who do not, and I admit, it is a serious pet peeve with me. :( I am very proud to be from a community that gets it right, year after year. God bless those Estes boys ... ( ... And all the others who take the time to mark the observance in the manner it was intended.)
