I wrote this around 4:45am Sabbath Morning: Get a Joshua Mindset Moses hesitated when God told him to go deliver the Israelites from Egypt--he gave God excuses as to why he wasnt capable of being Gods mouthpiece. We see this same behavioral weakness in Moses as he journeys through the desert with the weak minded, distrustful and unbelieving Israelites, taking 40 years in the wilderness to reach the promised land that God had ensured He was giving them. When they finally reach the promised land, its through the leadership of Joshua, who boldly told the elders to walk through the Jordan with the Ark of the Covenant without proof that they would make it through, as Moses had to place his rod to open the Red Sea before the Israelites would begin to walk. That boldness allowed them to knock down the wall, then take the land of Jericho because they obediently followed the instructions that Joshua received from God to walk silently six times around the wall and after the seventh time around, simply yell...!!! This is the kind of obedience God requires of us. Whether we fully understand at the time, Hes either preparing us or testing us to see what we will do when given instruction from Him. The key is this: are we Moses or Joshua? Do we hear God and move, or question and ask for proof before we take that important step of trust? I have to admit: Ive been more like Moses than Joshua many times in my life. In fact, its only been in the last 7 or so years, as God has literally stripped me of many things/people in my life, that I have strengthened my faith and trust in God. But while Ive achieved this strength, it seems that the trials have become even more difficult and Gods instructions have become much more cryptic!! Sometimes, I know that those close to me must think Ive lost my mind: but recently, theyve become much more accepting of my behavior, recognizing my devotion to doing what I believe God has told me to do. I know that my journey has not only been an example for me, but also for those around me. Get to the place in your life where you have a Joshua Mindset!! Follow Gods leadings and instructions without hesitation and with confidence! When waiting for clarity, walk with belief and trust that God is totally in control, even when tired and not fully understanding what God is doing (basically discouraged or feeling lost)...I know I am!! ONWARD
