I wrote this article some time ago when we didnt have maybe half as many fans as we do now.. and to be perfectly honest it is the piece that I am most proud of out of any that I have written for this page. So Im going to share it again for entirely selfish reasons. An investigation into the possible causes of the irregular season patern seen in the world that houses Westeros and the ASOIAF series. And since this was written the first time, I have some more to add: Now, I mentioned in the post that axial tilt wouldnt be the cause of the drastic seasons, but what I never thought of, until Lord Boltons input, is that perhaps seasons as we know it still occur on Planetos. Perhaps Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter still occur, but are vastly overshadowed by the main, incalculable winter/summer cycle that could still be very much down to the variable output of the worlds parent star. Now, I was told, during my research, and again subsequently, that it is mentioned that the days grow shorter during the main wintertime, but Ive searched quite a bit and could not find it.. Im not saying its not there, just I was unable to locate that particular quote. But again, even if we do come across some scientific method that accurately explains the irregular seasons on Planetos, the fact remains that GRRM has said the entire thing is down to magic. But what is magic but science we do not yet understand? ~Ser Lambert
