I wrote this in 2000 for Les Dyason as a tribute to the new millenium No one person wants a handout - there is hidden desire in every one of us to be wanted and be useful. It is in no man to have to support his wife and children through welfare. This desire to support your family as an integrated member of society forced to welfare causes the pain of rejection to be enormous. The pain is unberable at first and then circumstances kick in and numbness and pride wears off causing the loss of self respect and dignity in a slow and enevitable process. Lost is a person, lost is a valuable contribution to the community as this person faking a facde of never mind and no-care becomes demanding. Later even a firm believer in a work ethic becomes rebeliious in the belief that this same society he belongs to and wanted to serve now owes, him a living. Sounds like the reason anc created eff to herd these people destroyed by the fabric of communist idealism and rejected by the theiving leadership, they have eveolved into bitter and emotionally scared demanders
